Our driver and guide for the day was Edgar who picked us up promptly in the morning from our hotel. It was hopefully going to be a full day of exploring the west side of the island, and it succeeded in every aspect. Edgar proved to be not only very proficient with his safe driving skills but also with his in depth local knowledge of the island. The day included forest off road terrain, spectacular hill-top panoramic views and included lunch in Seixal on the picturesque north coast. My wife and I would highly recommend this as a superb way to tour Madeira. Top marks!

It may be January, and cold enough for ice on the mountain plants and trees of Madeira, but Edgar provided a wonderful day out for three happy tourists on Saturday. In bright but chilly sunshine, he took us up into the mountains, off road at times, and showed us the plant life and the Madeiran way of life in the villages of the East. I thoroughly recommend this tour, and Edgar himself, for an entertaining and educational day out that will leave you possibly wind swept and definitely smiling.

In January my wife and I did both the East and West tours. By making the best of four-wheel drive Edgar took us to places otherwise inaccessible. Madeiran born, he was knowledgeable and proud of his beautiful island. Unlike a bus tour that has to keep to the main roads and stop only at preordained points, the small jeep tour can stop for photo opportunities as travellers wish. I came away with some of the best photos and memories of our two weeks and knowing a lot more about the flora of Madeira. With a three-course meal (with wine) included and Edgar's lovely dry humour, it's a value for money day out.

Fantastic trip if you want a half day, safe, fun, same or mixed age great trip into the beautiful Madeira mountains then this is for you. We hadn't planned on taking a jeep safari and weren't sure what to expect. We hadn't brought walking shoes but were ok in flat pumps. Bring a hat though as the jeep is open topped and don't forget your camera! We were collected from our hotel about 9.15 and could have been dropped off anywhere on the circuit on the way back if we'd wanted to be. We saw the beautiful Nun's Valley, stunning cliff top views and pretty eucalyptus trees and flowers. The off roading was great fun if a little bumpy at times but you could sit inside the jeep if you'd rather not be in the back. A rest stop at a local bar provided a tasty drop of freshly made Poncha. Our lovely, funny guide Edgar kept us entertained with his brilliant knowledge and chat. We will definitely be booking a full day trip as soon as we can.
Our guide was Edgar he was fantastic and very funny he explained everything right down to different plants the poncha was amazing also the 3 course meal with wine we also had fantastic company whom we are now friends on facebook.

Edgar, our driver, was a fantastic mix of charming, funny, intelligent and knowledgeable. He's obviously passionate about his lovely island, and showed it off to us very well. He's chatty without being intrusive, funny without being irritating, and knowledgeable without being arrogant. We had a super day. THANK YOU Edgar.

It was really amazing trip!!! Edgar is funny and perfect man. Madeira is beautiful island! Big thank you! Lenka & Robert.
Great day, Edgar conjured up a brilliant time for a party of 6. After driving wind and rain with zero visibility conditions on Pico Arieiro (Worst we have ever experienced) Edgar took us off road for most of the day along paths that were deserted and barely used. Felt totally safe with an professional guide who laughed and smiled a lot. Thoroughly recommend.

My friend and I signed up for this jeep tour of the west side of Madeira Island. Jeep was very comfortable, only one other couple joined us. Our guide Edgar was really fun, positive and knowledgeable. We hooked up with other jeeps from his company and all the guides were super cool. Full day tour, well worth it!

Once again we have been on this jeep tour. We never tire of seeing the countryside of Madeira. The weather today was really clear and we were able to take many great photos, Edgar, our driver and guide was once again excellent. The off road parts were exciting but we felt safe as Edgar is a very, experienced driver. We had a lovely relaxed lunch in Santana. A great trip!

Collected from our hotel. There was only another couple so plenty of room in the car. Edgar our driver and guide was very informative and seemed exceedingly proud of his country. I did the west tour of the island with my partner on 19th Dec. Picked a good day as there was no rain, fantastic off road experiences that could never be done in a regular vehicle. However when you reach higher ground it gets cold so take a coat of some sort. Lunch was excellent. 3 courses with wine and a lovely view from the window. More exciting drives in the afternoon Delivered back to the hotel around 5pm. Well done Safari.

We enjoyed a great day with Edgar in his very trusted Landrover Defender with all its mod cons! Edgar was a safe driver and knew the roads well and was a knowledegable guide with a great sense of humour. Lots of small details of added into his commentary - Madeirans certainly love and are very proud of their island. The off-roading was a bit hair-raising but added to the enjoyment of the trip. Lunch was good and we were given a wide choice of options form main course, wine gratefully accepted! A stop was made where we had to try out some Poncha - well worth it! Trip lasted a whole day and was certainly good value and extremely enjoyable. Next time we would visit the other side of the island and ask for Edgar again
